Which test do you need?
- Parts of the screen do not respond, or it registers ghost touches: use the touch screen test and fill the grid.
- Lines do not get thicker when you press harder: the pen pressure test shows the pressure your stylus sends.
- Auto-rotate, the compass or motion controls misbehave: the phone sensor test shows the raw sensor values.
- Your phone no longer buzzes: try the vibration test.
Some of these depend on the browser. iPhone and iPad do not let websites use the vibration motor, and iOS asks you to allow motion access first.
Frequently asked questions
Short answers to common questions about these tests.
Do these tests work on iPhone?
The touch screen, pen and sensor tests do. The phone vibration test does not, because iOS does not allow websites to vibrate the phone.
How do I find dead spots on a touch screen?
Open the touch screen test and drag a finger over every square of the grid. Squares that stay empty after you touch them point to a dead zone.
