How to check pen pressure
- Draw a slow line, pressing lightly at first and harder towards the end. The line should grow smoothly from thin to thick.
- Watch the pressure graph. A smooth curve means pressure works. A flat line at 0.5 means the browser only sees a mouse.
- Tilt the pen. Tilt X and Y should change if your pen supports tilt.
Pressure not working?
- Wacom, Huion and XP-Pen on Windows: install the latest driver from the maker, restart, and enable Windows Ink in the driver settings. Browsers read pressure through Windows Ink.
- Mac: install the tablet driver and allow it under System Settings, Privacy and Security, Accessibility.
- iPad and Apple Pencil: Safari supports pressure and tilt. Check the Pencil is charged and paired.
- Android stylus: Chrome supports pressure on most devices with an active stylus such as the Samsung S Pen.
- Only works in some apps: some drawing apps have their own pressure setting. If pressure works here but not in the app, check the app settings.
Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the questions people ask most about this test.
How do I test my drawing tablet pressure?
Draw on this page and watch the line width and the pressure value. Pressing harder should raise the value smoothly towards 1.
Why does pressure always show 0.5?
The browser is treating the pen as a mouse. Install or update the tablet driver and turn on Windows Ink on Windows.
Does this work with Apple Pencil?
Yes, in Safari on iPad. You get pressure and tilt.
